Parish Council Nominations
Thu 06 Apr 2023 12:32
Nominations have closed for the forthcoming local council elections. Five valid nominations were received for Tydd St Giles Parish Council, so there will be no contested election and those nominated will be elected unopposed. Two vacancies remain to be filled by co-option, so anybody interested in finding out more about the work of the Parish Council and the role of a Councillor should contact the Clerk before the end of April.
Elections will be held on Thursday 4th May for all Parish and Town Councils in Fenland, including all seven seats on Tydd St Giles Parish Council if more than seven valid nominations are received.
The Parish Council has responded to the draft Local Plan published by Fenland District Council. A number of concerns were highlighted by members of the Council when they met recently to review the document.
The Parish Council has been asked to consider providing allotments for residents of the Parish.
There are two possibilities - individual allotments of about 250m² each or a larger community allotment run on a volunteer basis.
It is envisaged that the allotments would be located within the village but before we start work on this matter, we need to understand the level of interest within the Parish.
We think individual allotments would cost somewhere in the region of £50 to £70 per annum, but this has to be finalised if the project goes ahead.
The Council's new website has been launched, providing clearer navigation and access to a wide range of information about the Council's work.
